Victims of April 7 events can file applications to receive compensations

The police officers and civilians who were hurt in the April 7, 2009 events can ask for financial compensations by lodging applications with the governmental commission for the identification of the victims, Info-Prim Neo reports. In an announcement, the commission says that the applications must be accompanied by confirmatory documents so that the persons receive compensations and benefit from other rehabilitation measures. The information will be treated with complete confidentiality. Snejana Turcanu, adviser of the State Chancellery, is responsible for the applications. Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase said earlier that all the persons who were hurt in those events will receive compensations even if the state budget is austere. According to the Ministry of the Interior, 271 police officers were injured during the April 7 protests. The number of victims among civilians is not yet known.
