Victim of Chisinau blast to stay in hospital for at least a month

The state of health of the 36-year-old man who was hurt in an explosion in an apartment building in central Chisinau is medium grave and he will undergo surgery.

Alexandru Bâtcă, doctor on guard at the Burns Center of the Clinical Traumatology and Orthopedics Hospital of Chisinau, has told IPN that the patient is conscious. The man will receive hospital treatment for at least a month. The first operation could be performed today. He suffered burns on the lower parts of the arms, up to the elbow.

In the morning of January 4, employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies were called out to an apartment building situated on Mihail Kogălniceanu in the center of Chisinau. The call to the 112 Service was received at 11:08am. Two firefighting teams were at the scene immediately. As a result of the blast, a man aged 36 suffered burns on the face and hands and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. According to the first examinations, the explosion occurred after the man turned on the cooker.
