The vice director of a Chisinau housing stock managing company was arrested on suspicion of traffic of influence. He asked for €8,000 from a person for helping him buy a plot of land in the municipality.
According to the National Anticorruption Center, the suspect said he has influence on persons holding responsible posts in the Chisinau City Hall and can convince them to solve the problem in favor of the given person, IPN reports.
The arrest was made in a restaurant in central Chisinau. The man had €1,500 on him, which was transmitted under the control of the National Anticorruption Center. The man is now held in the Center’s remand unit. He faces a fine of 80,000 to 120,000 lei or three to seven years behind bars.
The case is investigated by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
