Veterans of the law enforcement bodies call on the population to join in the demonstration that will be staged by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau this Sunday, September 6. The veterans issued a public call, saying the whole society is gradually involved in destabilizing confrontations. The economy is weak; the unemployment rate goes up, while the population becomes poorer. The power in the state is marked by a high level of corruption, incompetence and irresponsibility, IPN reports.

“The process of association between Moldova and the EU is stagnant and is discredited by the ruling alliance and disapproved of by the pro-Eastern opposition. The pro-European reforms were reduced to institutional restructuring, staff filtering-out and replacement with incompetent personnel affiliated to the power. The barriers to the economic development lead to the expansion of the austerity regime. The duties and tariffs on public utilities were raised. The political elite is directly involved in raider attacks on banking institutions, in appropriations of millions, in the abusive concession of the Chisinau International Airport and other crimes,” says the appeal.

The veterans demand that the administration of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the National Anticorruption Center, the National Bank of Moldova, the Supreme Court of Justice, and the Appeals Court should be dismissed for tolerating the stealing of public money from the banking system and the extension of corruption at the upper level of the state bodies.

The Supreme Council of Magistrates and the Supreme Council of Prosecutors are asked to transparently monitor how the loud cases are being investigated, with the participation of representatives of civil society, and to take legal measures to dismiss and punish the guilty persons and corrupt and incompetent judges and prosecutors.

Parliament tis requested to immediately organize an external audit to see how the investments, loans and grants provided for developing the national economy are used and to make public the results. Criminal cases should be started over appropriation of funds and those to blame should be held accountable.

The veterans also demand constituting, during the September 6 protests, the Council of the Great National Assembly that would consist of representatives of the Platform “Dignity and Truth” and other famous persons from different fields so that it monitors the work of the central and local public authorities and of the law enforcement bodies.

The Ministry of the Interior and the Security and Information Service are asked to exclude any action that would prevent the people from going to the protest in central Chisinau from the country’s districts and to ensure the people’s constitutional right to protest peacefully.
