The National Union of Veterans in War of Independence (UNVRI) and Transnistrian Refugees’ Movement (MRT) will protest in front of the Government because the decision on offering preferential credits to the veterans of the military conflict from 1992 is not respected and because the process of ensuring the refugees from the left side of Nistru with dwellings is delayed. The head of UNVRI, Eduard Maican declared on Monday, September 11 at a press conference that during several years and more frequently lately, the veterans of the war of 1992 confront with many serious problems, being treated discriminatory by the government which creates docile organizations. According to Maican, a hidden dictatorship and a fake democracy has emerged in Moldova. It misinforms the public opinion and the international community about the real state of affairs in the country. In the light of these facts, the protest actions aim at informing the public opinion about these realities, the cited source added. The head of MRT, Anatol Bazgu declared that the Government is not carrying out the decision on ensuring with dwellings the refugees from the east raions of Moldova. Of those MDL 8 million needed for the construction of 2 apartment blocks only MDL 1.9 million were allocated. Bazgu mentioned that MRT submitted on August 24 a request to Chisinau’s City Hall asking to authorize on September 14 a protest action. The deputy mayor, Veaceslav Iordan rejected the solicitation, decision which was contested in the Appeal Court by the Movement. Regardless the decision of the Court, the cited sources say that UNVRI and MRT will gather in front of the Government, because both national and international legislation allow freedom of assembly. The protest action will be organized on Saturday, September 14, starting 9.30.
