Dorel Roșca, a Nistru war veteran, was arrested at the internal checkpoint in Lunga village of Dubăsari district, which is a territory controlled by the de facto Transnistrian administration, in the morning of October 5. The Transnistrian militia argued the veteran is wanted on the left side of the Nistru, IPN reports.

Dorel Roșca and Nistru war veterans Kiril Motpan and Constantin Covrig were going to attend the funeral of their comrade Valeriu Mițul, who died on October 2. At the entrance to Corjova village, the veterans’ access was banned by representative of the Transnistrian militia.

Contacted by IPN for details, Constantin Covrig said that Dorel Roșca was taken to the militia station in Dubăsari and then to the Dubăsari subdivision of the so-called ministry of state security. As they cannot get in touch with him, his mates will be waiting for him at the subdivision to which he was taken.

Constantin Covrig also said that the Joint Control Commission, the Reintegration Bureau and the OSCE Mission were informed about the incident.

Promo-LEX Association called on the constitutional authorities to ensure the immediate and unconditional release of Dorel Roșca and to make additional effort to solve the problem of abusive arrests and restrictions to which the de facto Transnistrian administration resorts.
