Veris Chisinau scored the clearest victory in the first stage of the new National Division season. The team trained by Lilian Popescu beat Dinamo-Auto away 5-0, IPN reports.
In the 11th minute, the score was already 3-0 following the goals scored by Dan Pasla, Viorel Frunza and Denis Calincov. Before the pause, Frunza scored again and in the 50th minute the former striker of the national football team managed a hat-trick.
“We prepared seriously for this match. The current season will be more difficult than the previous one,” Veris coach Lilian Popescu told a news conference after the game.
“It was a disastrous start of season. I told my players that such football will not do,” said Dinamo-Auto coach Dmitrii Arabadji.
Veris is a leader after the first stage. Next Sunday, it plays Zaria Balti in Orhei. The former club Olimpia scored a 1-0 victory against Academia. Sheriff also has three pints following the 2-1 victory against FC Tiraspol.
The surprises of the first stage were produced by Milsami and Dacia, which didn’t manage to beat Saxan and FC Costuleni respectively. Zimbru didn’t play in the first stage because the new season involves 11 teams. The following encounters will take place in the second stage: Dacia - Milsami, Saxan - Sheriff, FC Tiraspol - Dinamo-Auto, Veris – Zaria, and Academia - Zimbru.
