All the units of equipment of the General Public Amenities Division of Chisinau will be outfitted with GPS systems. About 69,000 lei is needed to install the systems and another 93,000 lei for their annual service.
The Division’s acting head Petru Gontea has told IPN that by monitoring the signals of the GPS systems, the local authorities will have a clear picture of the situation and will be able to more efficiently coordinate the involvement of units of transport. If a unit breaks down while on the road, this could be replaced swiftly.
Petru Gontea said a part of the units already have GPS systems, but these are not functional as the vehicles are old and do not support modern systems. These are to be reequipped.
Thus, all the 46 vehicles of the municipal General Public Amenities Division will have functional GPS systems in several weeks.
