Businessman Veaceslav Platon said that justice was ultimately done to him at the end of last week, when the Prosecutor’s Office announced that it dropped the charges against him. However, the same day President Maia Sandu made accusations against him, saying that the prosecutor’s decision is doubtful and that he aims to undermine the security and financial stability of the state. After such cynicisms and brazen lies, he will not keep silent as the glass is full. “I will start public, political and educational activity and will expose all the lies that persist now on the political arena of this country,” Veaceslav Platon stated in a news conference at IPN.
Last weekend, the Prosecutor’s Office dropped the accusations made against Veaceslav Platon in the middle of 2016. He said the accusations were made by the Prosecutor’s Office of Plahotniuc under state capture. Instruments were used and attempts were made to intimidate and make the people obey Vlad Plahotniuc. Before his extradition from Ukraine in 2016, the illusion that the exclusive authors of the bank theft were Ilan Shor and Vlad Filat was created in society. When he returned, he was the first to openly state that Plahotniuc was the main beneficiary. Veaceslav Platon noted that he lost everything, even his family.
He said he didn’t keep silent during the rule of Plahotniuc and will not keep silent now. He will relate what goals are pursued, how society is manipulated and what is done to gain power. He expects he will be subject to discrediting attacks, but he will use only facts.
The businessman stated Maia Sandu accuses him of different offenses, including the bank theft, but it is actually she who bears responsibility for this fraud. Maia Sandu, being a Cabinet member, voted to amend the legislation on the issuing of state guarantees, creating the legal basis for the fraud. Therefore, she bears collective responsibility for those deeds.
“Missis President never told society why she did those things. Now I have a very clear, direct question for Maia Sandu: Why did you do it? What was your motivation? The question is simple: Did you do it for money or out of stupidity? I want her to answer to all the citizens who were robbed,” said Veaceslav Platon.
His lawyer Ion Crețu noted that back in 2016, as a lawyer, he tried to inform who was the beneficiary of the money stolen from Banca de Economii, but neither the prosecutors, not the courts of law wanted to listen to him and only Ilan Shor’s statement was accepted. Now the prosecutor’s office ultimate did what it ought to – ascertained that namely Plahotniuc and Shor stole the money, while Veaceslav Platon is not to blame.
