Former MP Veaceslav Platon said a part of the money stolen from the Moldovan banking system can be now recovered. In an interview for TV8 channel’s talk show “Politics of Natalia Morari” from the jail where he is held, Veaceslav Platon explained how this can be done, IPN reports.

According to him, an artificial debt of 2 billion lei towards Victoriabank was created at Banca de Economii in the process of robbing the banking system. “The money didn’t leave Victoriabank and I have evidence of this. Is Victoriabank responsible for a swindle agreement? Yes, it is,” stated the ex-MP.

Veaceslav Platon also said that he sold the shares he and several partners of his owned in Victoriabank to Vladimir Plahotniuc  on November 13, 2014, while the loan was provided on November 19, 2014. “They gave 2 billion lei. This is a phantom debt. BEM received 2 billion lei in cash. “Victoriabank” should return the money.”

According to the former MP, the interest rate for five years should also be repaid in this situation. “This is a sum of 4 billion lei that can be now returned to the state,” he noted.

Veaceslav Platon was arrested in July 2016 on charges of swindle and money laundering in very large amounts that caused damage of over 800 million lei to Banca de Economii (Savings Bank). He got 30 years behind cumulatively. Veaceslav Platon pleads not guilty.
