The new Cabinet does not have now chances to obtain an agreement with the International Monetary Fund, considers ex-minister of finance Veaceslav Negruta. In an interview for Radio Free Europe, the former minister said nobody from the governmental team has the experience needed to have a dialogue with the IMF and this is the biggest problem, IPN reports.

Veaceslav Negruta considers that the IMF will have a tough and categorical position with regard to Moldova because the previous experiences bothered the representatives of this organization. “But the fact that no one in the governmental team has the necessary experience for having a dialogue with those from the IMF is the biggest problem. There are persons who took part tangentially, but weren’t negotiators,” he stated.

According to him, the dialogue with the IMF should start immediately so as to have discussions on a possible program and to obtain support confirming that the macroeconomic policies are coherent and the World Bank and the European partners are afterward more open in the discussions with the Moldovan authorities.

Veaceslav Negruta said the new government should categorize exactly the economic, financial and social problems so as to be able to solve them. A government that comes to power in a period of crisis should start with an anti-crisis plan.
