Lib-Dem Veaceslav Ionita is the most active member of the XIX Parliament, according to a statistical database compiled by the NGO “Center for Analysis and Corruption Prevention” (CAPC) and based on official transcripts of the Parliament's sittings, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ionita, who heads the Parliament's finance and economy commission, was counted to have participated for as many as 101 times in parliamentary debates. Ionita is followed by Liberal Valeriu Munteanu, with 87 instances of participation, and Democrat Marian Lupu, with 61 interventions. In terms of speeches delivered, the same trio leads the list, but in a reversed order, with Lupu at the top. The biggest number of legislative proposals were submitted by Liberal Valeriu Munteanu, with 20 initiatives. His party colleague, Victor Popa, submitted 17 legislative proposals, followed by Lib-Dem Tudor Deliu. The greatest number of statements in Parliament were made by unaffiliated Mihai Godea, followed by Liberal Ion Hadirca, Lib-Dem Valeriu Strelet, Democrat Dumitru Diacov, and Communists Iurie Muntean and Vladimir Voronin. Most interpellations were made by Communist members − Elena Bondarenco, Artur Resetnicov and Sergiu Sirbu. Mostly due to their boycotts and walkouts, the Communists are also the biggest absentees of the XIX Parliament, with Mihail Poleanschi missing 19 sittings without a justifiable reason, Vladimir Voronin 16 sittings and Constantin Staris 15 sittings. The database is available on the Center's website at www.capc.md. The effort is part of the project “Corruptibility Assessment of Proposed Laws and Secondary Legislation” funded by the Sweden-based Civil Rights Defenders and Sida.
