Boxer Veaceslav Gojan is contending for the 15th title of national champion. The athlete from Grimancauti has qualified for the final of the 56 kg weight class after he beat Iulian Ivanov from Hancesti in the semifinal, IPN reports.

In the final, Gojan, 34, will meet for the second time Veaceslav Plotnic from Chisinau, who beat Norair Mcrticean, a native of Armenia. Last year, Plotnic competed in the 64 kg class, where he was defeated by Dmitry Galagot in the final.

The 60 kg class semifinal will involve Mihail Cvasiuc and Dorin Bucsa.

“The up to 60 kg class is the most unpredictable one. Dorin Bucsa and Mihail Cvasiuc have equal chances of winning gold. I will be pleasantly surprised if there is similar competition in the other weight classes,” the coach of the Moldovan squad Petru Caduc said in the opening of the event.

The finals will take place at the Polyvalent Hall in Chisinau starting at 3pm on October 6. The Moldovan Boxing Championship is held for the 70th time.
