Vasile Tarlev says Moldova did not reject Russian aid for Gagauzia

Prime-Minister Vasile Tarlev regrets the confusions and maintains all the humanitarian aid from Russia will reach its destination. “We are grateful to all the countries spreading a helping hand to Moldova, contributing to diminish the drought consequences, and we also are grateful to the Russian Federation,” the premier has said, asked by the press to comment on the communique of the Russian Foreign Ministry. It shows confusion as to “the actions of the Moldovan authorities, which proposed that the aid for Gagauzia be distributed at a later date,” Info-Prim Neo reports. The press release underlines the Russian party intended to send the aid to Gagauzia earlier in March. Moldova agreed that two Russian planes with assistance land in Chisinau. However, later, because of unknown reasons, the Moldovan side declined the aid suggesting to bring it later. Vasile Tarlev denied the interdictions would be related to the Gagauz elections. “There are some confusions in here,” the Prime-Minister said. “The aid will reach its destination. When the aids solicited by the Government come from different countries, they are sent to Chisinau and we distribute them here. We’ll talk to the Russian side to eliminate all the confusions,” the Prime-Minister specified. Russia planned to sent 60 tonnes of sunflower oil, canned meat and fish, foodstuffs and fodder to the Gagauz Autonomous Territorial Administrative Unit. The last summer drought made losses of over USD1B in Moldova. The external humanitarian aid is assessed at USD179.2m. The Governments of the USA, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Greece, Romania, Germany, the Netherlands and other countries have already sent food, clothes, school stationery, construction materials, seeds, fodder.
