Vasile Tarlev is the leader in a new opinion survey

Prime minister Vasile Tarlev outran president Vladimir Voronin in the top of personalities 2005, getting 40.6% of the preferences of the respondents to a opinion survey made by the Information and Public Opinion Research Centre Socioinform. Survey results were announced during the press conference on the topic „Opinion of the population of RM regarding the critical situation in economy, politics and social field. Rating of political formations and leaders”.
In the rating, Vasile Tarlev is followed by Vladimir Voronin, who got 39.9%, Serafim Urecheanu with 36%, Marian Lupu with 32%, Vasile Ursu with 16%. In the same time, Dorin Chirtoaca got 15%, Eduard Musuc with 10.3%, Dumitru Diacov with 6.4%, and Anatol Petrencu, Dumitru Braghis and Iurie Rosca by 6.0%, Oleg Serebrian with 4.9% and Nicolae Andronic 3.0%.
If they have to go to elections on Sunday, 40.1% would vote for Communist Party, 30.1% for Alliance Moldova Noastra, 8.9% for Social Democrat Party, 5.2% for Christian Democratic People’s Party, 3.9% for Humanist Party, 3.8 for Centre Union, 2.6% –Liberal Party, 2.3 –Democrat Party, 2.2 - Social Liberal Party and 2.0 - Popular Republican Party.
16.8% of respondents see as next president of the country Serafim Urecheanu, 16.7 - Marian Lupu, 15.6 - Vladimir Voronin, 11.2 - Vasile Tarlev, 6.7 - Iurie Rosca, 6.1 - Vasile Ursu, 5.3 - Dorin Chirtoaca, 4.8 - Eduarsd Musuc, 3.5 - Dumitru Diacov, 3.01 - Oleg Serebrian, 2.1 - Nicolae Andronic, by 2.0 % - Mihai Ghimpu and Anatol Petrencu, by 0.2 % - Oazu Nantoi and Eugenia Ostapciuc.
It is for the first time when the head of the state is outrun by another personality in an opinion survey regarding the popularity of Moldovan politicians.
Referring to causes of poverty, about 50% of respondents affirmed that it is corruption at all levels. Other 27.5% said that guilty are the mistakes of the ex-democratic leadership, 12.6% blamed on illiterate methods implemented in the country’s economy, 12 % - that country’s citizens grew out of working.
The act of 4 April 2005, when the deputies of parliamentary factions lead by Iurie Rosca, Dumitru Diacov and Oleg Serebrian, voted the candidate of Vladimir Voronin as head of the state, was considered by 31.9% of respondents as political game with certain interests, by 22.3% as violation of electors’ rights who had voted for them, by 23% that there were wanted certain political and material interests and by 12% as a democratic procedure.
The doctor in sociology, Ion Batcu, chairman of the Information and Public Opinion Research Centre Socioinform, said during a press conference when there made public the data of the survey, that this did not have any political or mean aims, only the appreciation of the spirits in the society.
Thus, according to Ion Batcu, the most significant trend of the survey is the increase of negative appreciations of the population towards living standards and social and economic policies. The difference more negative between the incomes and the prices led to the fact that almost 90% respondents said they are poor, in a way or another.
The survey was made in 6 districts and municipality Chisinau, on 1,200 persons.
