Moldovan wrestler Vasile Diacon has won a silver medal at the 2023 European U23 Wrestling Championships held in Bucarest. In the final of the 74 kg weight class, he was beaten by Azerbaijan’s Turan Bayramov, IPN reports.
Vasile scored three victories, against Giorgi Gogritchiani of Georgia, Menua Yaribekyan of Armenia and Poland’s Szymon Wojtkowski.
Earlier, medals at the 2023 European U23 Wrestling Championships were won by Alexandrin Guțu (gold), Vitalie Yeryomenko, Irina Rîngaci, Mariana Draguțan, Eugeniu Mihalcean and Radu Lefter (all bonzes).
