The candidate for mayor of Chisinau, MP Vasile Bolea, of the Revival Party, intends to reduce the cleanup tax from 120 lei to 60 lei if he is elected, but noted that this tax should be paid by everyone. In a press briefing, he presented his solutions for improving the situation in the housing sector of the capital city, IPN reports.

He aims to assess and optimize the process of collecting waste so as to reduce operating costs of cleanup services without affecting the quality of service.

Vasile Bolea noted that he undertakes to annually allocate 200 million lei for repairing the yards of apartment buildings in the city, for developing a program to consult dwellers so as to decide which yards should be repaired the first.

He also plans to invest considerable amounts in the purchase of modern equipment and technologies, to implement an efficient program to manage waste in a responsible way and to engage the population in volunteering for maintaining the city clean. Investments will also be made in water supply systems so as to have water of a high quality and lighting systems where it is necessary.

The candidate said the persons working in the housing and amenities sector are often underestimated and the Revival Party will therefore raise their salaries. The ordinary people who live in the municipality of Chisinau should enjoy elementary comfort.

Vasile Bolea noted that the infrastructure in many parts of Chisinau is old and hasn’t been modernized for many years. The public lighting is insufficient and the citizens cannot feel safe at night. Waste management lives to be desired. The absence of a waste recycling and selective waste collection strategy leads to the accumulation of waste and the pollution of the environment. The health of citizens is therefore affected. The proposed solutions will solve the existing problems.
