Varied program on International Museum Day

Every year since 1977, International Museum Day is celebrated worldwide on May 18. This day is an occasion to raise awareness on how important museums are in the development of society. This year, the celebrations will take place at the National Museum of Archeology and History of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. For the experts in the field, the International Museum Day’s program will start with a roundtable meeting themed “Contemporary museum in the Republic of Moldova – functioning-related problems and development prospects”. Afterward, there will be launched the Museum Encyclopedia of Moldova and opened the exhibition “Porcelain object – art and testimony.” The general public will be able to visit the exhibit, see documentaries within the Documentary Film Festival “Chronograph” and the performance of the pipe ensemble “Vasilasii” of the Children’s Creation Center “Luceafarul”, which is managed by Vasile Ichishcheli. There will be also staged the workshop “Archeological object – en enigma”, an origami workshop and a masterclass on ceramics. The events celebrating International Museum Day will take place between 10:00 and 18:00. Entrance is free of charge.
