Valeriu Zubko suspends himself from post

Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko suspended himself from post for the period of the investigation into the shooting of Sorin Paciu. The institution’s press officer Maria Vieru has told Info-Prim Neo that the decision was taken by the prosecutor as a result of discussions with Head of Parliament Marian Lupu. The Speaker advised Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean to do the same. Sorin Paciu was wounded mortally on December 23 during hunting that involved government officials. The vice president of the Chisinau Court of Appeals Gheorghe Cretu is investigated for unintentional murder. In a news conference earlier, politician Sergiu Mocanu blamed the prosecutor general for Sorin Paciu’s death.
