“The tasks I must carry out, even if they are difficult and probably the most difficult ones faced by Moldova so far, are attainable,” said the candidate for Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, quoted by IPN.
He noted that among his priorities are to restore the relations with the development partners, to sign a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund, to cooperate with the European partners, to elucidate the situation in the financial-banking sector and to promote particular social projects. “I accepted the offer because I’m loyal to the party. We are in a crisis, but we must return to a ‘floating’ line. Together we will succeed,” stated Strelet.
Valeriu Streler was born in Tareuca village of Rezina district on March 8, 1970. He studied at the Faculty of History of the State University of Moldova and at the Faculty of General Economy and Law of the Academy of Economic Education. He worked as a teacher of politology and history of culture at the Romania-French Lyceum “Gheorghe Asachi” in Chisinau. He also held the post of director of “Bioagrochem” SRL and of director general of “Bioprotect” SRL. He headed and was then a member of the Board of the Local Network in Moldova of the UN Global Compact for Corporate Social Responsibility.
As to his political career, in 1994 he ran in the parliamentary elections on the list of the Social-Democratic Bloc, while in 2001 – on the ticket of the Electoral Bloc “Plai Natal”. Since November 2001, during a year, he held the post of sub-secretary general of the Social Liberal Party, while between December 2002 and June 2007 – of deputy head of the same party.
Since December 2007 until now, Strelet has occupied the post of deputy chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova. In August 2009, he entered Parliament. He is married and has four children.
