Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet said he will not tender his resignation on his own initiative. In a press briefing held before the sitting of Parliament, the Premier stated that he is ready to defend the Government’s position before the MPs, IPN reports.

Strelet said that if he tenders his resignation, he will deprive himself of the right to defend his position and will leave room for interpretations that would support the reasons invoked in the no-confidence motion. Such an act will run counter to all the recommendations and suggestions of the development partners. The reconstruction of the alliance can last and the economic and other acute problems can meanwhile worsen.

The no-confidence motion that is to be put to the vote in Parliament today, October 29, was submitted by the Socialist and Communist MPs last week.
