The impositions of bans by Russia represents blackmail aimed at influencing the people’s vote, but the situation after the parliamentary elections will improve, the leader of the parliamentary group of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Valeriu Strelet said in the program “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.

According to Strelet, this blackmail involves leaders of Moldovan political parties, such as the Party of Socialists. “Such an attitude on the part of the opposition is inadmissible as it profits from this economic blackmail in order to manipulate the voters. The bans are nothing but leverage used to exert political influence on the political choice. I’m sure that the idea of imposing bans was suggested by political leaders from Moldova,” he said.

Strelet also said that the representatives of the PLDM carry out intense activities at local level so as to explain the reality to the people. “We tell the people that other countries of the EU, which are now prosperous, also experienced difficult economic situations. But we make everything possible to improve the situation and a part of the apple and plum growers that sustained losses as a result of the bans imposed by Russia were already provided compensations. Financial resources were identified for compensating all the fruit producers for the sustained losses. We also tell the people that things after the elections will improve,” he stated.

Referring to the accusations made against the PLDM by the Liberal Reformist Party (PLR), Strelet said that this party adopted an incorrect electoral tactic after their proposal to form an electoral bloc for the parliamentary elections was rejected. “The PLR, which is a party of the government coalition, sometimes attacks the PLDM more than the opposition parties. If those from the PLR’s administration read the 50 articles of the agreement on the formation of the coalition, they would realize the mistakes they make. We wanted to take part in the elections independently, with our emblem and slogan, but we offered them places on our list of candidates and they didn’t accept. I think the PLR adopted an incorrect approach and wastes its strength now,” he said.
