The chairman of the Democratic People’s Party Valeriu Pasat sued the leader of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin and the former leader of the Christian Democratic People’s Party (PPCD) Iurie Rosca for damaging his honor and dignity, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from Valeriu Pasat. According to the communiqué, several criminal cases were opened against Valeriu Pasat in February 2005 – May 2006, in which he was accused of usurpation of the state power, smuggling in firearms and munitions, causing of damage to the public interests. In the same period, Iurie Rosca, who then headed the PPCD, said that Valeriu Pasat planned to murder him. During the investigation, while Valeriu Pasat was in custody, Vladimir Voronin commented on the case of Pasat for the press and accused him of offenses of which Valeriu Pasat wasn’t convicted. “As Valeriu Pasat was acquitted on all charges on November 18, 2009, the statements made by Voronin and Rosca can be described as calumnious,” reads the communiqué. Valeriu Pasat asks the court to make Vladimir Voronin and Iurie Rosca to apologize publicly for their statements as they damaged his reputation and caused him emotional damage.
