Moldova’s former President Vladimir Voronin and the former leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova Vladimir Plahotniuc ruled Moldova with an iron hand and a large part of the country’s population respected them for this, while the other part seems to have been afraid of them. Valeriu Pașa, expert of WatchDog.md, said the current President Igor Dodon is neither respected, nor feared by the people, IPN reports.

“It’s hard for me to comment a lot on the latest period as I’ve got the impression that we deviated as we discuss unserious things. Everyone designs by an agenda that ultimately turns out to be empty when it is analyzed. It is an invention for each player apart. For example, President Igor Dodon is no longer taken seriously in this country. Instead, he has opponents in the opposition, who are trying to persuade us that he is a Plahotniuc-to-be. This could be so, but we want to hear some arguments too,” Valeriu Pașa stated in the talk show “Expertise Hour” on Jurnal TV channel.

The WatchDog.md expert noted the government remained without a parliamentary majority before the assumption of responsibility by the Government following the actions taken by President Igor Dodon. “He, when staging this show with the forcing of MP Gațcan to vacate his seat, could not anticipate that he will not have a quorum in Parliament the next day. This shows what kind of a strategist he is”.

MP Iurie Reniță said Vladimir Plahotniuc and Igor Dodon are equally noxious. In the case of President Dodon, the influence that comes from the Russian Federation is much more dangerous than the events that took place in the past. Igor Dodon’s role as the representative of Russia should not be underestimated.

MP Oazu Nantoi considers President Dodon lost control over the parliamentary majority and thus resorted to the plan that involved MP Ștefan Gațcan.

“When Igor Dodon managed to bring back Gațcan to Parliament, all those who wanted saw what this alleged coalition represents and what the price of this coalition is. It is a failed, absolutely immoral coalition that sticks together only for the purpose of Dodon’s reelection as President. We and our colleagues will do our best to thwart this scenario,” stated Oazu Nantoi.
