The entire sanitation system is inherited from the Soviet period, and all the five sanitation companies must be merged into one. The opinion was expressed by Valeriu Munteanu, the candidate of Save Bessarabia Union, at the public debates “Only one from many: who and why?”, third round, the 120th edition of the cycle "Development of political culture in public debates ", organized by the IPN Press Agency.

"If we are a poor city, it does not mean that the city should not be clean. When one presses the sanitation button, only one person should be in charge of the whole process from top to bottom. One year should suffice to reequip all companies with the necessary cleaning devices,” specified Valeriu Munteanu.

The USB candidate says that the city hall has the competencies to carry out the cleaning but a local police must be set up for checking individuals and businesses in the area of maintaining cleanliness.

Valeriu Munteanu mentioned that during the time he was minister of environment, he evaluated the risk posed by the Bîc river for the capital. "I came with 10 million euros from Romania to clean the river Bic, and the money is blocked in Chisinau because this project is not being implemented," said the USB candidate. Also, Valeriu Munteanu has stressed that, as mayor, he will build a new treatment plant, for which 24 million euros are earmarked by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank.

According to the USB candidate, in Chisinau, positive models must be taken from cities in Romania, which have a gross domestic product far greater than Chisinau. "After the reunification with Romania, it will still be up to us to solve our problems. We will still have mayors in Chisinau, Floreni and Briceni after the reunification as well. Even in Romania there are well managed cities and poorly managed cities. I am talking about positive models”, said Valeriu Munteanu.

The USB candidate mentioned he believed that Plahotniuc's dictatorship was a great danger for the Republic of Moldova. "I accepted Plahotniuc's leaving the government through the reasonable compromise made between ACUM bloc and the Socialist Party. But what happened after that, this long-term, four-year, ten-year program, formation of the Moldovan civic nation, is no longer reasonable. I think we should go to early elections and break the ties with Moscow and their emissaries,” said Valeriu Munteanu.

The debates "Only one from many: who and why?" with the participation of the candidates for the position of general mayor of Chisinau municipality, the third round, are the 120th edition of the cycle "Development of political culture in public debates", supported by the German Foundation Hanns Seidel.
