The candidate for MP of the electoral bloc ACUM in single-member constituency No. 18 Orhei and Călărași Valeriu Munteanu said the most important battle in the Republic of Moldova that each politician and each citizens should give is against the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo that has led the country farther away from the EU, NATO and Romania. The message was transmitted in a campaign launch event held in Orhei town, IPN reports.
According to Valeriu Munteanu, the perpetuation of the government of the leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc and the Party of Socialists whose informal leader is Igor Dodon would mean the end of any European project launched in Moldova and also Moldova’s federalization in the conditions dictated by Russia. “The guiding and saving idea of the unity of the anti-oligarchic, pro-European and pro-Romanian opposition brought me near the bloc ACUM and I’m sure this was a mature political decision with a lot of responsibility towards our citizens,” noted Valeriu Munteanu.
The candidate of ACUM said the decision to run namely in Orhei was taken because Ilan Shor, who was sentenced to 7.6 years in jail for robbing the banking sector and who is a “porcelain” protégé of the PDM, also runs there. He will compete in this very difficult election campaign with the feeling of responsibility towards the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, including those from Orhei, who were taken hostage by the ‘shining appearances’ of Ilan Shor’s activities as convicted mayor of Orhei municipality.
Valeriu Munteanu is convinced that the Moldavan citizens, including those from Orhei, realize that the thieves should stay in jail, not in Parliament. They also understand that Moldova needs democracy and the rule of law, while such “specimens” as Ilan Shor should not enter Parliament, but should be jailed. “I will run namely in Orhei in order to convey a message of unity around the bloc ACUM, to discourage the veneration of political thieves and to encourage those who really believe that the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo and their servant Shor can be defeated,” stated the candidate.
He noted that if he is elected, he will make sure that the banking fraud is investigated correctly and those to blame, including Ilan Shor, are convicted. He pleads for the return of the stolen money to the state’s treasury so as to spare the people of the burden of repaying the debt during 25 years. “I’m absolutely sure that the bloc ACUM will win victories all over the Republic of Moldova as the people will remove the thieves from government,” concluded the politician.
Prior to the campaign launch event, Valeriu Munteanu informed the Orhei Police Inspectorate about the intimidation acts to which the representatives of the bloc ACUM were subject by a group of supporters of Ilan Shor when they arrived in Orhei.
