The Liberal Party’s candidate for mayor general of Chisinau Valeriu Munteanu, who gained 3.61% of the vote in the May 20 mayoral elections, called upon his voters to support Andrei Nastase, the candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, in the runoff vote.
In a news conference on May 21, the Liberal said the support given to Andrei Nastase is unconditional, but he would like this to take something from his electoral program if he is elected mayor, IPN reports.
According to Valeriu Munteanu, freeing the Chisinau City Hall from the grip of the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo was and remains the goal of the election campaign. All the pro-European forces should unite so that Andrei Nastase wins the elections in Chisinau and they later could cope with the duo in the parliamentary elections.
The ex-candidate called on the residents of Chisinau municipality to take part in the June 3 runoffs in a large number. “Our short-term goal is to regain the Chisinau City Hall and to later obtain a parliamentary majority of the pro-European and anti-duo forces, in November,” he stated.
Valeriu Munteanu thanked his voters for their trust and those who worked with abnegation alongside him in the election campaign. “I will continue to struggle for freedom and democracy and for the return of the Bessarabian Romanians to the motherland Romania,” he noted.
