In an open letter addressed to the Romanian authorities, Valeriu Munteanu, the Save Bessarabia Union candidate for mayor of Chișinău, calls on them to rethink the paradigm by which they finance activities in the Republic of Moldova and to contribute to the construction of a thermoelectric power station.
In an IPN press conference regarding the evaluation of the electoral race, Valeriu Munteanu urged all pro-Romanian candidates to join his appeal to the Romanian authorities. "The construction of a thermoelectric power station would make the most of the gas resources coming from Romania, would produce electricity and thermal energy and would ensure true independence from harmful interference from the east", said Valeriu Munteanu.
The Save Bessarabia Union candidate said that the USB economic experts estimated that the PSRM spent 5 million euros in this election race, of which half in Chișinău. "Only 10% of the money is reported by PSRM. Unfortunately, the authorities, the police and the Central Electoral Commission do not acknowledge the violation that we see. We have done our duty in this election race", said Valeriu Munteanu.
According to the USB candidate, his team that is running for the Municipal Council is formed of young, good Romanians, who want to help the city develop.
Alexander Bostan, the head of USB's legal department, said that the political party acted pro-actively and notified authorities about the violations committed during the election campaign. "Unfortunately, many of our referrals have been shifted from one authority to another in order to avoid taking responsibility for decisions that would have been detrimental to the representatives of the current government", said Alexandru Bostan.
Ilie Crețu, the chief of USB electoral staff, said that the political party preferred to carry out a "door to door" campaign. "We were part of a team responsible for volunteers. We met with many residents of Chișinău and we discussed the issues of the capital”, said Ilie Crețu.
According to him, the most important problems that the residents are facing are the poor condition of the roads and sidewalks and poor sanitation in the municipality. "The people of Chișinău have appreciated the solutions for sanitation found by us, namely merging all municipal sanitation enterprises into a single one", said Ilie Crețu.
