Valeriu Lazar: We cannot hope for a reduction in gas price

The agreement for the supply of Russian gas will be again extended for a year and this means that we again cannot hope for a reduction in the price of gas, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar. According to him, the objective is to make sure that the price for 2013 is not higher than the current one, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The contract for the supply of natural gas to Moldova and the contract for the transportation of Russian gas via Moldova will be extended for a year. We hope that this will happen in the middle of December,” stated Valeriu Lazar He also said that the talks over the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the energy sector with the Russian side will continue at governmental level. On December 13, Valeriu Lazar will go to Moscow to meet with his Russian counterpart Alexandr Novac. The agreement for the supply of natural gas signed by the Russian concern Gazprpom and SA Moldovagaz expired on December 31, 2011. Until now, it was extended two times for three months and one time for half a year.
