The stability of the exchange rate is important for exporters, as for all the producers is, said the chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Industry Valeriu Lazar, noting that he does not agree with the assertion that the depreciation of the leu is for the exporters’ benefit, IPN reports.
“We cannot say that the depreciation of the ley is advantageous to the Moldovan exporting companies. Most of these companies import raw material and different accessories for production and this import component has an impact on the structure of costs,” Valeriu Lazar told a news conference.
According to him, for the exporting companies, as for all the producers, it is stability that counts, including of the exchange rate, as everyone wants predictability in business.
The chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Industry stated that increasing and diversifying exports is the best remedy in the current period of instability of the exchange rate so that the economic entities collect more amounts in foreign currency and reduce risks.
“That’s why at the key event of the entrepreneurial year – the national exhibition “Made in Moldova” – we aim to help the Moldovan companies meet the European quality standards and to have better brand names and modern marketing strategies. These are preconditions that would enable them to increase exports. It will be in fact a contribution of the economy to stabilizing the exchange rate,” said Valeriu Lazar.
