Independent candidate Valeriu Giletski will not abandon the presidential race. The politician told a news conference that confusion appeared among the voters following the withdrawal of the Democratic candidate Marian Lupu from the race for the presidency, IPN reports.

“I do not withdraw from the campaign. I’m determined to struggle for the set objectives. The vote given to me is not a lost one, as some assert. If I abandon the race, a large number of voters will remain without an option. I call on the people to vote in elections and call upon those who support the continuation of the European course without sacrificing the Christian values to vote for Valeriu Giletski,” stated the candidate.

The politician added that he constantly struggled to promote the people’s right to choose the Head of State themselves and believes that the October 30 elections should be regarded as a chance to choose a President who will represent the country’s interests. “I’m convinced that the President must be the grantor of the people. To obtain this, it is important not to cause confusion among the people before the elections,” stated the candidate, noting that the unilateral withdrawal that is not coordinated with the one who you want to support and the rejection of this support confuses the voters.

Valeriu Giletski remains a pro-European candidate, but considers it is very important not to renounce the Christian values, especially the family ones. “I see I’m the only conservative pro-European candidate who promotes the Christian values. We cannot leave Igor Dodon to be the only defender of the moral values,” he said.

If he does not reach the eventual runoff vote, Valeriu Giletski will vote for the joint candidate of the center-right forces Maia Sandu, on condition that she accepts to include the promotion of the family values in her program.
