The former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Valeriu Ghiletski, who didn’t enter the new legislature formed after the elections of February 24, 2019, said he will not end his political career and would like to take part in a new election campaign. He referred to the possibility of running in snap parliamentary elections, noting he would need a new political force with which to start his campaign now that the proportional representation system was restored, IPN reports.

“The period of time and the context in which the snap elections will be held will help me take a definitive decision. I surely intend to use this occasion to return to politics,” Valeriu Ghiletski stated in the talk show “Important” on TVC21 channel.

He said he will not yet run in the next presidential elections. “I think that to run in the presidential elections, a solid political force behind a candidate is needed. I believe an independent candidate has slim chances of winning the presidential elections,” he stated.

Valeriu Ghiletski noted he has considered launching a political project for a period, but is not yet ready to put such an idea into practice. “I do not insist on being the one who should launch such a project. I believe in a team. I believe both in victory, as the Holy Scripture says, and in the wisdom of the ‘consultants’, which is of the members of the team with whom you work. You can be the member of a team or the leader of a team if this role is entrusted to you, but what matters is the cause for which you struggle,” he said.

According to the politician, a pro-Western, pro-European conservative political force is needed in Moldova.
