Liberal-Democratic MP Valeriu Ghiletski considers the negotiations on the formation of the ruling coalition must take place in a narrow format as forming a government by all the parliamentary parties is impossible. However, there are problems that could be solved including if discussions are held in an extended format and the election of the head of state is one of these problems. The lawmaker made such statements in the public debate “Why politicians again need time to form a majority coalition and what people in Moldova risk in such conditions?”, organized by IPN together with Radio Moldova.
Valeriu Ghiletski partially agrees with the assertion that the politicians in Moldova do not have the experience of governing in a coalition, but considers that things have changed over the last few years. According to him, negotiations and discussions are necessary with all the factions, especially about the election of the President.
“As far as I know, the problem of the election of the head of state is discussed at the negotiations. An attempt was made earlier to decide by referendum that the President should be elected by the people. The government formula should be discussed in a narrower format, but there are problems that can be considered in a broader format,” stated the Liberal-Democratic MP.
“The Party of Communists suggests installing an apolitical Government supported by all the parliamentary parties. Where did you see something like this? Do you suggest that 22 players should wear similar T-shirts and should not know who they play against and in whose goal they should score? Who would bear responsibility? Consensus can be reached on particular narrow segments.”
The debate “Why politicians again need time to form a majority coalition and what people in Moldova risk in such conditions?” is the 40th installment of the series “Developing political culture by public debates”, staged by IPN News Agency with support from the German Foundation Hanns Seidel.
