The Communist Party (PCRM) had plans to annul the nominal compensations starting with 2010, Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga said in reaction to the Communist lawmakers’ demand that the legislature should not pass the Government’s bill to this effect, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“This program to optimize the social assistance system was approved by the Government in 2007. The objective was to efficiently direct the social assistance to the most unprivileged families. The nominal compensations program was considered inefficient. According to the Communists, the payment of nominal compensations was to be stopped on January 1, 2010,” Valentina Buliga said in a news conference.
She specified that the persons who now receive nominal compensations, are entitled to lower social benefit. If they are not paid nominal compensations, the value of the social benefit will increase. “We aim to improve this system. The care allowance will be raised in 2013. A new type of support - personal assistant – will be introduced on January 1, 2013. It is intended for persons with severe disabilities, who need support,” stated the minister.
In a news conference, several Communist MPs said the bill providing for the annulment of nominal compensations, approved by the Government last week, will seriously affect the socially deprived groups of people.
