Vagrant saved from fire by building dwellers

A homeless man remained alive owing to the dwellers of a Chisinau apartment building, who informed the firefighters about the smoke coming out from the block's service floor. According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the dwellers of a building located in Ciocana district saw the smoke at about 16.00 on Sunday. The firefighters rushed to the scene and discovered a smoldering mattress on which a man was sleeping. Allegedly, the mattress caught fire from a lit cigarette. The man was hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning. Nine fires happened in Moldova yesterday and last night, including one in Chisinau and two in Falesti.
