The chronic problems faced by Moldova are due to the system, not to persons. Therefore, the resignation of the government and the holding of early legislative elections are not a solution, Liberal-Democratic MP Vadim Pistrinciuc said in the public debate “Political communication in periods of crisis: between public interest and narrow political interest”, which was staged by IPN News Agency in co-production with Radio Moldova.
Vadim Pistrinciuc noted that when these protests were started, the government entered a more active political process and activated particular internal processes that are to produce results. “There is also a therapeutic effect as things can no longer remain the same after such events. As regards the demands, we can discuss them a lot. There is nothing bad if particular political powers appear. But I don’t think that the early elections are a solution now. We were told to leave. Why? During the last few years, we confirmed our mandate about six times. As you have the right to demand early elections, we also have the right to discuss them and consider their social utility. I think such actions should produce results, but not necessarily radical ones,” he stated.
According to the politician, a connection should be made between the political communication and political actions. “It’s time for the actions to speak. When you say something, actions must follow. We took part in so many elections that we are no longer afraid of them. But the early elections are a powerful sign of instability. It is a sign for those who do not want the country to develop and want to hamper the European integration process. There is a moral problem, but there is no problem related to the legitimacy of the government. The parties have the right to show that they can solve particular problems,” said Vadim Pistriunciuc.
He also said that the chronic problems are due to the system, not to persons. “We saw how difficult it is to solve the problems inside the system. The governments changed, but the systems remained the same. The politicians must change these systems, but the impetus must come from civil society. The subject of early elections does not fit the logic of system modifications,” stated the MP.
The debate also involved Democratic MP Dumitru Diacov, executive director of ADEPT Igor Botan, who is a member of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth”, and expert Victor Juc, vice director of the Institute of Legal and Political Research of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
