The Rugby Federation of Moldova on December 20 awarded the best players and coaches. For the third year in a row, Vadim Cobilas was named the best rugby player of the year in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. In 2011, Cobilas became the first Moldovan sportsman performing in England’s championship for Sale Sharks. He did not attend the event as he has a tight schedule with his team. Oxana Bunici and Adriana Revenko were designated the best rugby players among women. Moldova manager Sergiu Motoc became the best coach of the year. Under his guidance, the Moldovan team ranked among the leaders of Division 1 B of the European Nations Cup. Stefan Leca was named the player of the year in rugby-7, Mihai Golubenko – the best junior, while Igor Orghianu – the best young rugby player. The Rugby Federation’s president Vasile Revenko expressed his satisfaction with the results achieved this year. “2011 brought us closer to our dream – to take the rugby to every home,” he said. The Moldovan Rugby Gala was attended by Prime Minister Vlad Filat and the Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimpu, who during the year supported the national rugby squad in a number of games played at home.
