There will be preconditions for reducing the gas charge in spring, said the president of the Administrator Board of Moldovagaz Vadim Ceban. According to him, the gas charge for household users could decrease to 16-17 lei per cubic meter of gas. By spring, the current gas charge will be used to cover all the tariff deviations of Moldovagaz, IPN reports.

The CEO of Moldovagaz said the current gas charge includes the tariff deviations accumulated earlier. These deviations will be covered with the gas charge of 18 lei until February and preconditions will later appear for asking the regulator to review the charge.

“Of the tariff deviations, about 700 million lei remained to be recovered at the beginning of November. About 400 million lei more will remain to be recovered at the end of this year. I hope this sum will be recovered in February and preconditions will later appear, at least as regards the tariff deviations, so that we could ask the regulator to adjust the charge. The charge should be by approximately 2 lei lower. But this will happen when we will not have financial deviations and the purchase price from Energocom will be lower,” Vadim Ceban stated in the program “Résumé” on RliveTV channel.

The chief of Moldovagaz explained that the gas charge is calculated based on the purchase price, the transportation price and other related costs. Even if there are no tariff deviations in spring, the gas charge cannot be lower than 16 lei.

“The charge can be of 16-17 lei, by 1-2 lei lower than the current charge. We should not forget that the transportation price increased and the distributions tariff was modified in summer. There are also other constant costs. The charge doesn’t depend only on the purchase price. It also depends on the transportation costs and the forecast volume,” stated Vadim Ceban.

Currently, Energocom sells natural gas to Moldovagaz at the price of US$605 per 1,000 cubic meters. The gas charge is 18.06 lei per cubic meter, VAT inclusive.
