The 21,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines in humanitarian aid provided by Romania to Moldova will be brought to the Chisinau International Airport by a SMURD plane at about 2pm on February 27, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Embassy of Romania in Moldova says the plane will be met by Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Daniel Ioniță.

The donation forms part of the support package for Moldova that was announced by the President of Romania Klaus Johannis during his official visit to Chisinau on December 29, 2020 and represents support for frontline workers of the Moldovan health system.

One day earlier, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection reported that the first batch of 14,400 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines produced in South Korea will reach Moldova during February 28 – March 3. Confirmation of the delivery was received from the COVAX platform.

Also yesterday, the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency officially registered in the Republic of Moldova the Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik-V and also the Pfizer/BioNTech and AstraZeneca vaccines.
