The shots promised by Romania will be delivered to the country when the Republic of Moldova is ready for immunization. Frontline healthcare workers will be vaccinated the first, followed by other risk categories, the President’s adviser on health Ala Nemerenco has said.

“So, the ball is in our court. The vaccination process will start when we take steps and are ready to receive the vaccine,” Ala Nemerenco posted on Facebook.

While in Chisinau on a visit, President Klaus Iohannis announced that Romania will donate up to 200,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Moldova of the consignments it will receive from the European Commission as an EU member state. He also said that a team of Romanian experts will be dispatched to Chisinau to share Romania’s experience and to help prepare the vaccination strategy. Romania will also donate protective equipment for medical personnel and strategic medicines for treating complications caused by COVID-19.
