Mobile phones and other electronic communication equipment could no longer be used during lessons at school. A relevant draft amendment to the Education Code was given a final reading by the Parliament, IPN reports.
However, there are situations in which the use of electronic communication devices will be allowed during lessons. It will happen for educational purposes, in cases of emergency or to monitor the health of students with disabilities or severe chronic diseases confirmed by documentation.
The conditions and manner of using mobile phones or other electronic communication equipment will be stipulated in regulations that will be approved by the Ministry of Education and Research.
The Ministry noted that educational institutions, through internal decisions, could previously prohibit the use of mobile phones during lessons, but there were multiple requests to legally regulate this practice.
