USD and UTM need rectors

The Ministry of Education and Youth has announced a contest for the posts of rector of the State University of Moldova (USM) and of the Technical University of Moldova (UTM), Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Education Ministry.
The candidates for rector must be citizens of Moldova; have appropriate scientific and didactic titles (doctor habilitate, university lecturer); have at least 10 years seniority in the scientific and didactic area, including 5 years of work in university; know the state language and the legislative and normative documents that regulate the education sector. The persons that turned 60 are not admitted.
The applicants must submit the personal record, copies of the diplomas and scientific, didactic and honorific titles, the excerpt from the work record book, the plan of action in the future post of rector, the decision of the assembly of the staff or organization that recommends them to the contest commission at the Education Ministry within 30 days of the announcement of the contest.
The post of USM rector fell vacant in April 2008, when Gheorghe Rusnac was named as Ambassador of Moldova to Italy and, simultaneously, Moldova’s Permanent Representative to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Food Program (WFP). The post of UTM rector was vacated by Ion Bostan in December 2007, when his four-year term in office expired.
The two posts are held by Gheorghe Ciocanu and Ion Bostan on an interim basis.
