The Political Party Save Bessarabia Union (USB) calls on the government to repeal the Hunting Decision of the 2019-2020 season, approved during last week's meeting. In a protest action in front of the government building, USB leader Valeriu Munteanu said that the document was approved due to  pressure from the President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, who allegedly is "the country's greatest hunter".

According to Valeriu Munteanu, "thousands of birds and animals will be slaughtered so that some hunters with poaching inclinations satisfy enjoy themselves".

Valeriu Munteanu sent Prime Minister Maia Sandu a Red Book through the government building guard, conveying the message that “due to neglect towards the wildlife, more and more species are on the brink of extinction and are included in the Red Book, which over time will become even thicker".

Also, Valeriu Munteanu had a "gift" for the head of state - a "Moscow" salami. The salami was accompanied by the message "have something to eat and leave the birds and animals alone".

The USB leader says that over the course of 2015-2016, when he was minister of the environment, hunting was banned. Afterwards, the PDM government  resumed this practice, which the current government is continuing.

Government officials did not engage the protesters and did not issue a statement regarding the matter.
