USAID announces new internships in USA for professionals from Moldova

30 professionals will be selected to spend approximately three weeks in the United States meeting with American counterparts, within the frameworks of the Community Connections Professional Program for 2006-2007, financed by the United States Government through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and administered in Moldova by the Center for Social and Economic Development (CSED). One of the programs of the Professional Program for 2006-2007 is fighting corruption within inspection bodies. Applicants for this program must be representatives of the inspection authorities working in buildings construction, health inspectorates (hygienist), tax inspection and other authorities inspecting business (local and central levels). As well owners, managers and heads of quality control departments of private wine producing companies, directly involved in the quality control of products can also apply. Another field tackled by the program is NGO Capacity Building. Applications for this program will be accepted from well-established Non-Governmental Organizations that have been in existence for at least five (5) years. The general requirements for candidates are work experience in a management position with decision-making authority in the appropriate field for at least two years; being able to travel on an international passport issued by the Republic of Moldova, residing within the internationally recognized borders of the Republic of Moldova (including the Transnistrian region). Knowledge of English is not compulsory. All applications are due November 10, 2006, 5 PM and can be presented at the Center for Social and Economic Development. Applications will not be accepted from persons who have previously taken part in an internship or exchange program in the United States financed by the U.S. government for the last 5 years. Community Connections, funded by the United States Government through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and administered in Moldova by the Center for Social and Economic Development (CSED), is designed to help participants build bridges with new partners in the U.S.; exchange expertise, knowledge, and experience; and learn how various business and professional institutions are structured and operate in the U.S. In addition to the business and professional aspects of the program, applicants will participate in cultural programs and exchange ideas, values, and customs.
