The United State of America will offer US$ 3.5 million in technical assistance to Moldova in addition to the US $ 36.1 million provided within the agreement of assistance for ensuring efficient and responsible democratic governance that was signed in Chisinau on September 2016. The memorandum was approved by the Cabinet on May 16, IPN reports.
The money will go to implement child protection projects (“My Childhood” program – US$ 2m) and to develop independent media (US$ 1.5m). The beneficiaries of the project are the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection and media freelancers, especially those involved in television and film production at local and international levels.
The initiative to sign the amendment was put forward by the U.S. Government and does not imply financial commitments on the part of the Republic of Moldova. US$ 16 million lei of the funds offered within this agreement has been used so far.
