The United States will offer US$ 2 million to national television channels and production studios for television series pilots, American content licensing and Romanian-language dubbing, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the U.S. Embassy to Moldova.
The U.S. Embassy seeks a qualified implementing organization that will manage the “Television Content Fund” program, which aims to increase the quality and quantity of locally produced content on Moldovan television through co-productions that expand investment and employment in the media space.
A minimum of 30 and up to 75 entertainment series of 5-10 episodes each over two years with a sub-award floor of $15,000 and ceiling of $50,000 per series should be funded in the case of television series pilots.
As regards American content licensing, a minimum of 50 and up to 100 licensed American television formats and/or entertainment programs for television with a sub-award floor of $15,000 and ceiling of $150,000 should be provided to minimum of 5 television channel beneficiaries. Each sub-award granted should cover licensing for at least 10 formats and/or programs. The total funding for this line of effort should have a ceiling of $750,000.
As to Romanian-language dubbing, a minimum of 1,000 and up to 2,000 hours of Romanian-language voiceover dubbing of American and European entertainment content should be made available at a per-hour ceiling of $1,000. The total funding for this line of effort should have a ceiling of $350,000.
Eligibility is limited to not-for-profit organizations, independent mass media, foreign non-profit organizations and educational institutions. Closing date for applications to MoldovaGrants@state.gov is June 15 this year.
