Although the potential threats in the region have never been clear-cut, it has become evident that future security issues will be much more complex, U.S. Embassy Charge d’Affaires Julie Stufft said when delivering remarks to open a two-day seminar on regional cooperation and strategic communication today, July 20, IPN reports.

Addressing an audience of officials, academics, and administrators from the defense and security sectors, Julie Stufft noted “although the potential threats in the region have never been clear-cut, it has become evident that future security issues will be much more complex, and regional cooperation will be a key factor in dealing with these challenges.”

The seminar featured presentations by subject matter experts and interactive panels focused on themes of cooperation and strategic communication in the Black Sea region. The seminar was sponsored by the George C. Marshall European Center, a U.S.-German defense and security studies institute.
