U.S. Ambassador in Chisinau Dereck J. Hogan underlined the importance of free and fair elections in a meeting with Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu. The diplomat reiterated his commitment to help Moldova implement reforms and advance on the Euro-Atlantic path, IPN reports.
On its Facebook page, the U.S. Embassy said such progress open the way to extended commercial relations that bring prosperity to the citizens of Moldova and to the U.S. citizens as well.
Dereck J. Hogan took his oath of office at the Department of State in Washington to become the United States ambassador to Moldova last month. Ambassador Dereck J. Hogan is a career member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service. Prior to being sworn in as Ambassador to U.S. Embassy Moldova, he served as the Deputy Executive Secretary of the U.S. Department of State.
In his welcoming message, Ambassador Dereck J. Hogan said he respects and admires the Republic of Moldova’s tenacity to strengthen its independence and to build a democratic, stable and prosperous society. He noted the United Sates has always been a reliable partner and friend of the Republic of Moldova.
