The US Ambassador to Moldova Michael Kirby is naturally anxious that the changes which have occurred at the radio station “Antena C” seem to limit the public’s possibility – in both right bank and left bank Moldova – to receive a wide range of information on civic affairs which was earlier provided by this radio station. According to a press release from the US diplomatic mission to Chisinau, quoted by Info-Prim Neo, the ambassador made these statements on Wednesday, February 7, during a meeting he had with 5 fired employees of Antena C. According to the press release, the ambassador was informed about the staff’s complains concerning the cessation of the news programmes and their replacement with brief bulletins, the firing of 25 out of 27 journalists formerly employed by “Antena C”, and the intimidating presence of police on the premises. Also on Wednesday, employees and former employees of the station informed Vladimir Ristovski, special representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe in Moldova, about the situation created at the radio station Antena C after its reorganisation.
