The United States Ambassador to Chisinau, Dereck J. Hogan, claims that although he has been in Moldova for only ten months, he and his family have come to love this country. In an Independence Day congratulatory message, the ambassador said that the United States would continue to support the Republic of Moldova and its citizens in the process of building a more prosperous and democratic society and of asserting its well-deserved place in Europe.
Dereck J. Hogan said that he traveled to several regions of Moldova and discovered amazing rural landscapes, lively cities and, most importantly, wonderful and generous people, who are proud of their country.
According to the diplomat, in just 28 years, the Republic of Moldova has come a long way as a sovereign and independent state, free to choose its future. "This is a continuous process. My country is 243 years old and we are still working to improve it. We share your desire to have a country with a people's government, which will strengthen government institutions, including by combating corruption and reforming justice", stated the diplomat.
"The United States will remain your strategic partner. We'll be here to help. On behalf of the entire team of the US Embassy in Moldova and on behalf of the people of the USA, I wish you a wonderful holiday. Happy Birthday, Moldova!”, said the ambassador.
